Our client, a rapidly growing tier 2 infrastructure contractor, is seeking a talented and driven Head of Commercial & Procurement to join their team.
This newly created role offers the opportunity to shape and lead the commercial function, establishing and optimising systems and processes that will drive the company’s continued growth.

Based in Petersfield, Hampshire, the successful candidate would be required to work in office 5 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of commercialand procurement strategies, frameworks and the associated internal and externalrelationship management.
- Identify key commercial and contractual risks tobusiness and manage contracts and relationships to mitigate risk.
- Identify cost reduction and efficiencyopportunities, including contributing to continuous improvement initiatives andthe establishment of tools to benchmark programme efficiencies.
- Develop and implement best practice systems andprocesses for the effective, efficient, and consistent management ofprocurement and supply chain activities.
- Manage the commercial aspects of PQQ’s, bids,tenders, etc. for new opportunities.
- Responsible for the financial management ofprojects including periodic/monthly reviews and cost reporting to assess thefinancial performance.
- Lead the development of contractual documentsincluding Supplier contracts, Confidentiality Agreements and ConsultancyAgreements.
- Lead internal commercial review meetings withkey stakeholders, preparing and reporting on KPIs, risks and opportunities.
- Manage the sourcing of services and resourcesrequired for projects and negotiate costs with suppliers.
- Report and present project-specific commercialissues at client progress meetings.
- Lead the development of procurement activitiesincluding strategies, tender process and governance.
- Manage the procurement of sub-contractors andensure effective supplier engagement.
Requirements
- Chartered membership of a relevant professionalbody (i.e. RICS, CIPS).
- Degree in Commercial Management, QuantitySurveying (or similar) or experience equivalent.
- Experience of different contract types,including JCT and NEC3/4.
- Commercial experience in a similar role within acontracting business or SME.
- Proven influencing and negotiating skills.
- Leadership skills with the ability to establishcollaborative relationships.
