Movers & Shakers from May

Mace

Have announced that Jason Millett will be stepping down as Group Chief Executive of Mace Construct, and from the Mace Group Board at the end of December 2026.

His successor has yet to be announced.

 

Keltbray

Karl Goose has stepped down from the position as Chief Executive Officer. Peter Burnside, Executive Deputy Chairman, has replaced Goose, who was brought in from Ferrovial last year.

 

Translink

Have announced the appointment of Gerard Carlin as Chief Executive Officer. Carlin joins from SONI – System Operator for Northern Ireland, where he is currently Director of Networks and Innovation and succeeds Chris Conway who steps down at the end of June.

 

Kier Group

Alexandra Smith has been appointed as National Frameworks Director for its construction business, succeeding Deane Hudson, who has retired after 39 years at the company. Smith joined Kier in 2024 as Senior Business Development Manager.

They have also appointed Craig Message as Commercial Director within the Infrastructure business. Message joins from Costain Group plc, where he was Water Sector Commercial Director.

 

Amey

Have made four new appointments to their Advisory business.

James Bulleid has been appointed as Sector Director for Advisory. Bulleid moves internally from his position as Business Director, Energy Transition and Sustainability.

Chris Gray has been appointed as Delivery Director for Water, Environment and Energy. Gray joins from AECOM, where he was Head of Water – Europe & India.

Gareth Podesta moves internally to become Delivery Director for Defence and Public Estates.

Finally, Thomas Kinnear has been appointed as Delivery Director for Transport. Kinnear also moves internally from his position as Highways & Utilities Director, Advisory & Analytics.

Simon Higgens also joins as Consulting Market Director for Defence. Higgens joins from Story Contracting, where he was Business Development Director.

 

United Infrastructure

Have announced several changes to their Infrastructure Services leadership team:

  • Scott Beard - Managing Director – Infrastructure Services. Beard moves internally from his position as Director of Water.
  • Eoin Morrissey - Managing Director – Energy. Morrissey moves internally from his position as Operations Director.
  • Conor Bray - Operations Director LBCCUS.
  • Simon Warner has been appointed as Commercial Director – Infrastructure Services. Warner moves internally from his position as Commercial Director – Water.

 

HS2

Mark Harvey joins as Commercial Director, Civils. Harvey joins from Transport for London (TfL), where he was Head of Commercial – Capital Systems.

 

Agilia Infrastructure Partners

Have announced the appointment of James Hampson as Managing Director, with a specific focus on expanding delivery expertise. Hampson joins from Jacobs, where he was Vice President Major Programmes.

 

Transport for the North

Have announced the appointment of Katie Day as interim Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Martin Tugwell. Day has been Deputy Chief Executive since April 2024.

 

WSP in the UK & Ireland

Matt Tooby succeeds Peter Button as Business Development Director for Rail. Button is retiring after 45 years in the rail industry.

They have also appointed Alex Herbert as Major Project Director in the Planning & Consents business. Herbert joins from Telis Energy, where he was Head of Planning.

 

M Group

Have announced the appointment of Andrew English as Managing Director – Energy Infrastructure. English joins from Skanska, where he was Executive Vice President (COO), Infrastructure.

Adele Barker has also been appointed as Chief People Officer. Barker joins from Pennon Group Plc, where she was Group Chief People Officer.

 

Anglia Railway

Have announced their unified railway leadership team, bringing together c2c, Greater Anglia, and Network Rail as they take a step towards the establishment of Great British Railways (GBR):

  • Jamie Burles - Managing Director
  • Martin Beable - Chief Operating Officer
  • Rob Mullen - Chief Customer and Commercial Officer
  • Louise Kavanagh - Finance Director
  • Lee Parlett - Health, Safety, Security & Environment Director
  • Katy Bucknell - People Director
  • Chris Curtis - Planning & Performance Director
  • Natalie Allen - Strategy & Change Director
  • Natasha Grandison - Chief of Staff

First Rail London

The new operator of London Overground, have appointed its Executive Team.

David Statham has been appointed as Managing Director.

He will be joined by Lee Archer as People Director, Mike Fortune as Finance Director, and Oliver Owens as Concession and Transformation Director. All three currently hold roles within First Rail.

Several appointments have also transferred from the previous London Overground operator, Arriva Rail London. Kate Marjoribanks as Engineering Director, Niall Rooney as Customer Experience Director, Charlotte Whitfield as Operations Director and Mark Hughes as Head of Safety, Health & Wellbeing and Compliance.

 

Alstom

Have appointed Guillaume Tritter as Managing Director for Alstom Australia and New Zealand. Tritter moves internally from his position as Vice President Services – Africa, Middle East & Central Asia.

 

Stadler

Ed Williams has been appointed as UK Engineering Director. Williams joins from West Midlands Metro, where he was Head of Engineering.

 

Accenture

Have appointed Adeel Azam as Director – Capital Projects across Data Centres and large Infrastructure developments in the ME region. Azam joins from AtkinsRéalis, where he was Senior Practice Director for PPM/PMC in the UK.

Gardiner & Theobald

Have appointed James Date as Partner within the Infrastructure team. Date moves from PA Consulting, where he was Principal Consultant.

AmcoGiffen

Have announced the appointment of Tom Lacy Regional Managing Director (West). Lacy joins from Murphy Group, where he was Operations Director.

 

Turner & Townsend

Have appointed Emma Gilthorpe as Chief AI Transformation Officer, a new role focusing on AI and technology. Gilthorpe was previously Chief Executive Officer at Royal Mail and is currently Non-Executive Director at MAG (Airports Group).

 

PA Consulting

Lizi Stewart has been appointed as Global Head of Transport. Stewart was previously Chief Executive Officer at Core Highways Group.

 

Civil Works Alliance

Have appointed David Glazier as PMO Director – Sizewell C. Glazier joins from NEOM in Saudi Arabia, where he was Senior Director – Centre of Excellence.

The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE)

Have appointed two new Chairs.

Denise Bowers has been appointed as Chair of ACE Group. Bowers is currently Group Director for External Engagement at Mott MacDonald.

They have also appointed Rukhsana Faiz as Chair of the Environmental Industries Commission, part of ACE’s environmental wing. Faiz is currently Managing Director of Environment, Sustainability and Planning (ESP) at Tetra Tech.

 

Ramboll

Have appointed Philip Kelly as Head of Department, UK Buildings Advisory & Consultancy UK. Kelly joins from Ridge & Partner LLP, where he was Partner.

They have also announced the appointment of Richard Graybrook as Director, Head of Aviation (UK&I and Europe). Graybrook joins from Jacobs, where he was Aviation Client Account Director, Europe.

 

Egis

Shakir Khaja has been appointed as Aviation Sector Director for Europe & Africa. Khaja joins from Arcadis, where he was Senior Director – Aviation Sector Director.

 

Ayesa Engineering

Kathryn Vowles has been appointed as Country Manager (Designate), UK & Ireland. Vowles joins from AECOM, where she was Director of Surface Transportation, Aviation & Ports.

 

BRG

Have appointed David Black as Managing Director in the firm’s European Regulation Practice. Black was most recently Chief Executive Officer at Ofwat.

 

Go-Ahead Group

Have announced the appointment of Sian Leydon as Chief Operating Officer. Leydon was most recently Managing Director Mainland Europe at Arriva.

 

SLR Consulting

Xavier Brice has been appointed as Director of Planning & Sustainable Infrastructure. Brice joins from Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, where he was Chief Executive Officer.

 

Southern Water

Have appointed Andrew Davies as Chair Designate, succeeding Keith Lough who is retiring from the Board. Davies was previously Chief Executive of Kier Group plc.

 

Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB)

Matt Buntine has been appointed as Head of London and Europe Project and Programme Management. Buntine joins from Bovis, where he was Managing Director, Consulting & Sustainability.

 

Enisca Browne

Have appointed Mark Lloyds as Director of Operations. Lloyds joins from MWH Treatment, where he was also Director of Operations.

Stagecoach Group Limited

David O’Leary has been appointed as Commercial Director for Stagecoach West. O’Leary joins from Arriva Group, where he was Group Commercial.

 

Henry Boot PLC

Have appointed Edward Hutchinson as CEO, succeeding Tim Roberts who will be retiring from the board later in the year. Hutchinson has been Interim MD of Stonebridge Homes.

 

Coriant

A newly established UK-based infrastructure and industrial maintenance services group have appointed Maxine Mayhew as its Chief Executive Officer. Mayhew was most recently Chief Operating Officer – Collections & Specialist Services at Biffa.
