Major Programmes & Strategy Growth Director

Location: UK-Wide (hybrid, with travel to key project sites 2-3 days per week)

We are retained to appoint a Major Programmes Strategy & Growth Director to help shape and deliver the next phase of growth across our client’s Major Programmes business. They are a leading global engineering, design, and professional services consultancy.

This is a senior-facing, strategic role, focused on driving client value and expanding our client’s involvement across some of the UK’s most complex and nationally significant infrastructure programmes.

You’ll work alongside delivery and programme leaders to identify opportunities, strengthen relationships, and shape long-term partnerships with clients in energy, defence, transport, and water.

Importantly, this is not a pure business development role, we’re seeking someone with proven major programme experience who understands delivery environments and the types of client challenges faced across large-scale infrastructure projects of national significance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic growth initiatives across major programmes, securing new opportunities and supporting long-term client relationships.
  • Work closely with programme and project directors to align delivery and growth strategies.
  • Develop proposals and value propositions in areas such as planning, environment, modular construction, and digital delivery.
  • Contribute directly to live projects (around 20–30% utilisation), maintaining senior client visibility and engagement.
  • Represent the Major Programmes team externally, acting as a trusted advisor and thought leader.

Key Skills & Experience:

  •  Proven experience working in major programmes or complex infrastructure environments (e.g. energy, transport, defence, water).
  •  Strong track record of client engagement and strategic growth, ideally in a consulting or engineering setting.
  • Collaborative, confident, and commercially astute, with the ability to influence at C-suite level.
