Old Oak Common Area Director

Sector: Rail/Stations

Salary: Competitive

Location: London

Description

HS2 has retained our services to recruit an Area Director for Old Oak Common Station, one of the programme’s most significant and complex infrastructure projects.

The Area Director will hold overall accountability for the delivery, integration, and transition to operations of the station. The role will provide leadership across project delivery, constructability, operational readiness, and stakeholder engagement. It will ensure programme objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in alignment with strategic outcomes.

We are seeking an experienced Project Director with a track record of delivering major station programmes within a client-side organisation, consultancy, or EPC contractor environment. Experience operating across complex stakeholder environments, including government bodies, transport authorities, and delivery partners, is essential. The successful candidate will also be able to lead multidisciplinary teams through technically and commercially challenging programmes.

This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in a nationally significant programme, offering both challenge and the chance to leave a lasting legacy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Accountable for the delivery and assurance of a major station area programme, incorporating multiple interfaces across national rail, transport and infrastructure stakeholders.
  • Accountable for the integrated delivery of the station programme within the wider infrastructure scheme, ensuring alignment to overall programme strategy and schedule.
  • Engage and manage relationships with programme sponsors and key stakeholders, including the management of requirements, outcomes and associated benefits.
  • Manage strategic external interfaces across transport, infrastructure and operational stakeholders to support programme delivery and minimise disruption to existing networks.
  • Accountable for the integration of all technical aspects of the programme, ensuring quality, safety, compliance and statutory approvals are achieved.
  • Accountable for all commercial aspects of the programme, ensuring robust commercial strategy, risk mitigation and legal compliance are in place.
  • Accountable for the development of an integrated operations and maintenance strategy, focused on operational readiness, station operations and stakeholder engagement.
