Transport Lead - Ireland

Description

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is seeking a Transport Lead – Ireland to drive growth and shape the future of transport infrastructure across the country. This senior leadership role will set the direction for transport activities in Ireland, with a particular focus on rail, light rail, road and bus.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing client relationships, winning major contracts, and overseeing the delivery of high-profile projects. You will also lead the expansion of the Irish transport team, building a strong local presence that leverages the consultancy’s global expertise.

 Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a 3-year business growth plan for transport in Ireland.
  • Drive business development through client engagement, market-raising activities, and bid leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and industry spokesperson.
  • Oversee recruitment, development, and management of a growing multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide strategic oversight on advisory, engineering/design, and project/commercial management services.
  • Work across the wider business to integrate services, enhance delivery, and grow market share.
  • Represent the consultancy at industry forums and promote innovation and sustainability in transport solutions.

Requirements

  • Senior-level experience in the transport sector, ideally with a strong network in Ireland.
  • A consultancy background and proven success in winning and delivering major contracts.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience building and managing diverse, high-performing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
  • Broad knowledge of transport and rail infrastructure delivery, including project and commercial management.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. ICE, IStructE, IRSE, APM) is desirable.
