Our client, a major infrastructure and built environment business in the UK, is seeking a Win Work Director to drive the growth of a £300m annual revenue business unit that supports UK infrastructure clients on major projects. The role will be instrumental in expanding the market positioning and service offer of its core business, which spans both contracting and consultancy services. The business has longstanding relationships with major UK clients in rail and aviation delivering contracting solutions, while also demonstrating a strong consulting service in providing project management, commercial management, and PMO services across UK infrastructure programmes.
Reporting to the Managing Director of this 1000+ staff strong business unit, this senior leadership role will shape the future direction of the business by identifying market opportunities, developing compelling client value propositions, and leading strategic pursuits and partnerships.
The role will be instrumental in driving sustainable and profitable revenue growth, strengthening market positioning, and ensuring the organisation remains at the forefront of industry innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement mid- and long-term growth strategies aligned with business objectives, working with key account focused directors to deliver sector growth plans and expand market presence.
- Maintain a forward-looking perspective on market dynamics, client needs, and industry trends through horizon scanning, scenario planning, and engagement with industry bodies.
- Shape differentiated, insight-led value propositions that address client challenges and position the organisation as a trusted advisor in complex projects.
- Lead or support major strategic pursuits and bids, developing compelling business cases and win strategies while strengthening competitiveness and client-centric approaches.
- Champion innovation in service delivery, digital transformation, and commercial models, identifying opportunities for intellectual property and recurring revenue streams.
- Build and manage strategic alliances with technology and delivery partners, while leading cross-market initiatives such as Private Finance, ESG, and Net Zero to unlock new growth opportunities.
Requirements:
- Multi-sector infrastructure experience preferred (Rail, Aviation, Energy, Water, Highways, Defence, etc).
- Background working in either a tier 1 consultancy or contractor environment is essential, and candidates with experience in both will be preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering growth strategies within complex, multidisciplinary businesses, with measurable revenue or market expansion outcomes.
- Proven track record leading major strategic bids, including win strategies, capture plans, and client positioning.
- Strong understanding of complex infrastructure and capital project markets in the UK, such as transport, energy transition, major programmes, or the built environment.
- Experience developing commercially viable propositions and business cases, with a track record of improving margin performance through strategic initiatives.
- Experience building and managing strategic alliances with technology providers, delivery partners, or specialist firms to enhance capability and market access.
