Contracts Awarded in August

Rail

Southern Integrated Delivery (SID)

15 suppliers have been appointed to a new 10-year partnership framework, to deliver buildings and civils works for its Works Delivery team across the Southern region in CP7 and CP8.

The successful firms are – Octavius, B&M McHugh, Spence Refit, KH Engineering Services, VVB Engineering, GS Moore Roofing Contractors, Dyer & Butler, Construction Marine, CK Rail Solutions, Nationwide Engineering, Suttle Projects, Van Elle, Coombes Forestry, Enable Infrastructure and Cleshar Contract Services.

Northern Trains

Northern Trains has awarded Sella Controls a contract to supply, install and commission 269 customer information displays as well as long line public address systems at 68 stations.

First installations are planned for this summer.

 

Network Rail

VolkerRail has been awarded a contract on Network Rail’s £1.3bn Scotland Civils Framework. VolkerRail will deliver £150m of signalling, power and communications works.

Other contracts have been awarded by Network Rail to the following contractors:

Lot A - Taziker will deliver minor civils works up to £150m.

Lot B - AmcoGiffen and STORY will be responsible for buildings and civils up to £730m.

Lot C - QTS will deliver geotechnical and minor civils up to £420m.

The contracts will run for 5 years, with an option to extend for a further three years based on performance.

 

 

Water

Welsh Water

Welsh Water has issued a contract notice for the next iteration of its Water Network Alliance. This is an eight-year contract; work will be delivered from 2025 through to 2033.

The contract is worth £752m and is split into two lots.

Lot one is worth a maximum of £400m and will see the successful companies carry out metering, customer appointment programmes and network maintenance.

Lot two is worth up to £353m; this will cover mains replacement, excavation and repairs/replacements to pipelines.

Interested companies can request to participate in the tender until the 5th of September. Welsh Water plans to send invitations to tender in mid-October. 

 

Anglian Water

Anglian Water have put contractors on notice for building two multi-billion-pound, multi-decade reservoirs in Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire.

They will start procuring a main contractor for the detailed design and construction of the Lincolnshire and Fens reservoirs in January 2027.

Thames Water

Costain has been awarded a contract with Thames Water to upgrade treatment assets in Markyate and Brickendon in Hertfordshire.

The award, totalling £6.6m across the two sites, relates to Thames Water’s upgrade of wastewater treatment assets as part of its Wastewater Asset Assurance Programme.

 

United Utilities

United Utilities have appointed a Jacobs and VolkerStevin joint venture, C2V, as Construction Delivery Partner (CDP) to support their major capital investment programme through AMP8.

The JV will deliver project management, design, build and commissioning solutions for complex capital projects covering water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations, reservoirs, bioresources and energy.

 

 

Energy

National Grid

Morgan Sindall have been awarded the Necton overhead line contract by National Grid. The contractor will build transmission infrastructure in support of windfarms off the Norfolk coast.

 

BP

Costain has been awarded a multi-million-pound front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract by for a new hydrogen pipeline network in the Teeside area.

The contractor will deliver the FEED to enable the construction for a new 31km onshore pipeline distribution network that will deliver purified and dehydrated hydrogen from bp’s new hydrogen facility to industrial end users.

 

50Hertz

A Dragados Offshore and Siemens Energy joint venture has been awarded a €2.9bn (£2.44bn) contract to design, build and install two electrical conversion platforms in the North Sea, by German transmission system operator 50Hertz. 

Dragados and Siemens will construct an offshore converter platform and an onshore wind energy conversion platform in Germany, with a total capacity of 2GW.

 

 

Nuclear

Sellafield

Altrad Support Services and Kaefer UK & Ireland have been awarded a £180m contract to deliver access solutions, insulation and painting services on major projects at Sellafield.

This contract is a 15-year framework agreement and is the last to be awarded out of 10 key delivery partners joining the Programme and Project Partners enterprise.

 

 

Other

Southern Construction Framework (SCF)

SCF, a leading construction procurement framework delivered by the public sector for the public sector in the South of England, have launched its second generation Consult framework.

Mace and architectural practice Corstorphine & Wright have been appointed to the latest framework. The suppliers can be appointed by any public sector body to deliver all project, property and asset consultancy services.

The two firms combine to offer public sector clients a broad range of construction, property, estate and asset management services, including Design, Engineering, Surveying and Cost, Project & Programme Management.

 

Agratas

Tata-owned Agratas have confirmed that Sir Robert McAlpine have been selected to deliver Building One of the planned three building EV battery factory located in Bridgewater, Somerset.

 

Pagabo

The procurement body Pagabo has opened bidding for a new £814m facilities management framework.

The Total Facilities Management Framework will focus on the needs of public sector clients in the healthcare, blue light, infrastructure, education and leisure sectors.

This framework will run for four years and will offer hard, soft or combined facilities management services.
