Movers and Shakers from January

Siemens Mobility UK and Ireland

Have announced the appointment of Aglaja Schneider as Joint Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for Rolling Stock and Customer Services. Schneider moves internally from her position as Director – London Deep Tube Upgrade Rolling Stock Programme and will be Joint Chief Executive Officer alongside current Joint CEO, Rob Morris.

 

Balfour Beatty plc

Kay Slade has been appointed Managing Director of the UK Regional Civils business. Slade moves internally from her position as Area Director, Regional Civils. She succeeds Peter Mumford (see below).

 

Costain Group plc

Have announced the appointment of Peter Mumford as Managing Director – Natural Resources. Mumford joins from Balfour Beatty plc, where he was Managing Director – Regional Civils.

 

CIÉ - Córas Iompair Éireann

Have appointed Stephen Kent as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Lorcan O’Connor, who has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Transport Infrastructure Ireland. Kent joins from Bus Éireann, where he was also Chief Executive Officer.

 

WSP

Have announced the appointment of Rachel Skinner as Managing Director, Transport & Mobility for WSP in the UK & Ireland. Skinner takes up this new position alongside her current role as Executive Director, WSP ESG Government Relations.

They have also announced the appointment of Karina Bessoudo into the newly created role of Global Technical Excellence Director for Transport and Infrastructure. Bessoudo moves internally from her position as Global Marketing and Communications Director.

 

Murphy Group

Have appointed Jamie Rothwell as Managing Director, Transportation. Rothwell is an internal promotion from his previous position as Project Director.

 

Steer

Have appointed James Grinnell as Chief People and Talent Officer. Grinnell joins from Currie & Brown, where he was Group People Director.

 

Affinity Water

Mark Garth has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Garth will join from United Utilities, where he is currently Director of Environment.

 

Kier Group plc

Following the creation of the Kier Infrastructure business, Steven Jackson has been appointed as Commercial Director, Natural Resources. Jackson moved internally from his position as Commercial Director, Nuclear and Energy.

They have also appointed Paul Jackson as Finance Director – Infrastructure. Jackson moves internally from his position as Financial Director – Natural Resources.

 

National Highways

Have announced that Nick Harris, Chief Executive, is stepping down after 5 years in the role. Harris will remain in post while the Board puts Interim arrangements in place, with the recruitment process for a permanent successor due to begin in the spring.

 

Mott MacDonald

Have announced the appointment of Paul Bentley to its Executive Board. Bentley takes up the position alongside his current role as Director at Mott MacDonald’s contracting business, JN Bentley.

They have also announced the appointment of Rachel Ellison into the newly created position of Operations Director for UK & Europe. Ellison moves internally from her position as Managing Director – Advisory.

 

Laing O’Rourke

Have announced the appointment of Wayne Davies as Global Chief People Officer. Davies joins from Premier Technical Services Group Ltd, where he was Chief Human Resources Officer.

They have also announced the appointment of Claire Carr as Project Lead. Carr joins from Costain Group plc, where she was a Programme Director for OMC on the Skanska Costain Strabag JV with HS2.

 

SSE plc

Have appointed Thomas Brostrøm as Managing Director for Business Development. Brostrøm joins from ACWA Power, where he is currently Chief Investment Officer.

They have also appointed James Allen as Chief Procurement Officer. Allen joins from GKN Aerospace, where he is also currently Chief Procurement Officer.

 

Ramboll Management Consulting

Have appointed Darren Carlile as Director, Head of Growth & Sales Lead. Carlile joins from AECOM, where he was Senior Director, Head of Defence UK&I.

 

Network Rail

Have announced the appointment of Richard George as Chair. George joins the role having previously been Chair at the Department for Transport Operator (DFTO).

They have also appointed Neil Drury as Director of Engineering and Asset Management, Wales and Western Region. Drury joins from South Western Railway, where he was Engineering & Infrastructure Director.

 

Department for Transport Operator (DFTO)

Following the appointment of Richard George as Chair of Network Rail, DFTO have appointed Sir Andrew Haines OBE as Chair. Haines was most recently Chief Executive Officer at Network Rail.

Mark Robinson has been appointed as Chief Information Officer. Robinson joins from the Ministry of Justice UK, where he was Director of Technology.

 

South Western Railway

Sam Turner has been appointed as Finance Director. Sam joins from Network Rail, where she was Group Finance Director.

 

Great Western Railway (GWR)

Have appointed Ashley Bray as Human Resources Director. Bray has held the position on an Interim basis since 2024.

 

Babcock International Group

Have announced that David Lockwood, Group Chief Executive, is set to retire by the end of the year. He will be succeeded by Harry Holt, who is currently CEO of Babcock’s Nuclear sector.

Additionally, they have also announced the appointment of Sarah Fortune as Commercial Director. Fortune joins from Kier, where she was Commercial Director – Rail & Aviation, Kier Transportation.

 

Jacobs

Will Barnett rejoins Jacobs as Senior Director – Water Europe. Barnett joins from AECOM, where he was Managing Director – Water, EURI Region. Prior to AECOM, he was a Director at Jacobs.

 

Deloitte

Mark Howard has been appointed as Director, Asset Advisory within the Strategy, Risk and Transactions Advisory team. Howard joins from Arcadis, where he was Managing Director, Business Transformation.

Have announced the appointment of Simon Finnie as Chief Executive Officer. Finnie joins from Royal BAM Group, where he was Executive Director - Ventures.

Have appointed Paul Hogan as Water Strategy & Growth Lead, EUR&I. Hogan moves internally from his position as PPC Infrastructure Clients & Growth Lead.

They have also appointed Ivan Chindurza as Head of Renewables for Europe. Chindurza joins from Mott MacDonald, where he was Divisional Director, Energy Generation Division.

Have appointed Gemma Prior as Director – Head of Cost Management, London and South East (LSE). Prior joins from Thomas & Adamson, where she was Director and Head of London Cost Management.

 

The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE)

Have announced the appointment of Darren Reed as Chair of its Large Consultancy Advisory Council. Reed takes up the position whilst continuing his role as Executive Managing Director, Transport & Infrastructure at WSP.

Former Mace Construct Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Jackson, has been appointed as Director for Data Centre Capability Delivery across the EMEA area.

Have appointed Francois Basselot as Managing Director, UK & Ireland. Basselot moves internally from his position as Managing Director, Energy & Sustainable Cities – Europe & Africa.

Have announced the appointment of Nicholas Petrovic as Chief Executive Officer. Petrovic joins from Etihad Rail Mobility, where he was also Chief Executive Officer.

Have appointed Bruno Muller as Chief Business Officer. Muller moves internally from his position as Director of Strategy & Sustainability.

Have announced three senior-level appointments:

Phil Cull has been appointed as National Executive Director. Cull moves internally from his position as Tunnelling and Regional Director.

Shane Gorman has been appointed as Southern Region Director for Infrastructure, moving internally from his position as Water Director.

Laura Macdonald has been appointed as Global Head of HSE & Sustainability HVDC. Macdonald joins from Nuveen, where she was Director, Health & Safety.

Have appointed Chris Pike as Commercial Director. Pike joins from Arcadis, where he was Sector Director – UK & Ireland Rail Business.

Hylton Millar has been appointed as Director in the Infrastructure team. Millar joins from EY, where he was also Director.

Frankie Carroll has announced that he is stepping down from his position as Chief Executive Officer after 5 years in the role. Kevin Devlin, Director General for the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority, takes on the role on an Interim basis.
