Movers and Shakers from June

The sun has finally arrived, the manifesto’s have been published and the pencils are being sharpened for Thursday’s election.

 

While we await news from No.10, let’s check out our industries big movers and shakers!

  

Transport Infrastructure Ireland

Have announced the appointment of Sean Sweeney as Programme Director to oversee the planned Dublin MetroLink metro system. Sweeney has an impressive track record for delivery major projects. Most recently he has been Chief Executive Officer of City Rail Link, a transformative underground rail link in Auckland’s city centre and New Zealand’s largest-ever transport infrastructure project.

 

Laing O’Rourke

Have announced that Group Chief Executive Ray O’Rourke is to step down and hand over to his son Cathal O’Rourke. He will continue to serve on the Laing O'Rourke group board as Deputy Chair of the firm.

 

M Group

Have appointed Robert Smith as Strategic Director- Water Division. Smith joins from Galliford Try, where he was Strategic Development Director.

 

Balfour Beatty

Nick Crossfield has been announced as the new Chief Executive of UK Construction Services. He succeeds Mark Bullock who stepped down at the end of last year. Crossfield has been Managing Director of Alstom Transportation’s UK and Ireland business since 2015.

 

Arup

Phil Harrison has announced that he is set to become the UKIMEA Rail Business Leader, taking over from Andrew Went. Harrison has been with the company since 1998, most recently as West Rail Business Leader.

 

Jacobs

John Pelton has been appointed as Enterprise Director. Pelton joins from Costain where he was Enterprise Programme Director.

 

Galliford Try

Have appointed Padraig McCormack as Operations Director. McCormack joins from MWH Treatment, where he was previously Framework Director.

 

New Murabba Development Company

Mike Lyons joins as Chief Project Delivery Officer. Lyons joins the company in Saudi Arabia from Virgin Media O2, where he was Programme Director (Construction & Delivery).

 

West Coast Partnership Development

Have appointed two new Directors. Simon Aslett has been appointed as Rolling Stock Director. Aslett moves internally, from his role as Head of Fleet, Commercial. Joe Parks joins as Business Design and Organisation Director. Parks joins from NRS Healthcare.

 

WCPD Managing Director, Shamit Gaiger, has also been awarded an OBE. Shamit has been recognised for services to rail marking an extensive career working across the industry which has spanned 22 years.

 

Wates Construction Limited

Have announced that Paul Chandler is stepping down as Executive Managing Director - Construction Group after 8 years in the role. He is set to retire from the full-time executive position at the end of 2024. Succeeding him is Steffan Battle who has been with the company for nearly 30 years.

 

Cundall

Frances Brown joins as Partner to lead their London workplace business. Brown joins from Hoare Lea, where she was Associate Director for the London workplace sector team.

 

Battersea Power Station Development Company

Have appointed Donagh (Don) O’Sullivan, as Chief Executive to lead the next stage of its development. O’Sullivan was Chief Executive of Galliard Homes from July 2017 until March 2022.

 

Turner & Townsend

Michael McBrearty joins as Delivery Director - Client Partner, overseeing the development and delivery of the Dublin MetroLink project for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). He leaves Equitix where he was Managing Director, Investments.

 

Mace

Rob Lemming moves internally to become Managing Director for Public Sector & Life Sciences and Alister Grey becomes Managing Director for Technology and Manufacturing.

Lemming joined Mace in 2014 and has most recently been a Director in the Public Sector & Life Sciences division. Grey joined Mace in 2016 and moves from his role as Commercial Director for the Technology & Manufacturing business unit.

 

Pell Frischmann

Have announced the appointment of Christopher Harte as Transportation Public Sector Director for the South. Harte joins from WSP, where he was Technical Director.

 

Baringa

Sarah Owen-Vandersluis has joined as Energy Lead Partner. She was previously at Global Client Lead Partner, Energy, Decarbonisation and Mobility at KPMG for the past seven years.

 

Porterbrook

Have appointed Ben Woods as Engineering Business Development Director, starting in July. Woods Leaves FirstGroup where he has been Director of Engineering Business Development, leading First Rail Holding's fleet team.

 

DB Cargo UK

Have appointed Mike Gray as Chief Transformation and Digitalisation Officer. Gray is a well-established technology leader in the UK rail industry and has been working on a consultative basis since 2013.
