Movers & Shakers from October

AWE

Have announced the promotion of Mark Dearden to Executive Director, Infrastructure Projects. Dearden joined the organisation in January as Infrastructure Portfolio Director and now steps into this expanded leadership role to drive the delivery of major infrastructure programmes.

 

National Grid

Have appointment Ailsa Waygood as Portfolio Director (Central). Waygood joins from HS2, where she was Project Client Director.

 

Core Highways Group

Have announced the appointment Alastair Smyth as Chief Executive Officer. Smyth joins from Techrete UK & Ireland, where he was Chief Executive Officer.

 

AtkinsRéalis

Have appointed Richard Bonner into the newly created role of Managing Director Buildings & Places UK&I. Bonner moves internally from his position as Markets Director Buildings & Places.

They have also appointed David Clark as Global Head of Defence. Clark moves internally from his position as Global Defence Lead and VP Aerospace & Defence, UK&I.

Skanska

Have announced the appointment of Dan Williams as Executive Vice President. Williams moves internally from his position as Managing Director – Building Services. Williams succeeds Andrew English, who has announced he is leaving the business.

 

Kier Group

Have announced the appointment of Martin Staehr as Group Managing Director for Kier Construction as of January 2026. Staehr joins from Laing O’Rourke, where he is currently Director – Delivery.

Network Rail - East Coast Digital Programme

Have appointed Sarah-Jane Crawford as Industry Partnerships Director. Crawford moves internally from her position as Senior Programme Manager – Digital.

They have also appointed Gunnar Lindahl as part of their partnership with LNER as Joint Operations Director – East Coast and LNER. Lindahl moves internally within Network Rail, where he is currently Programme Director (Performance & Reform).

 

Siemens Mobility

Have announced key changes to their Managing Board:

Michael Peter’s role as Chief Executive has been extended for an additional 4 years. He has also been appointed as Managing Director.

Current Chief Financial Officer, Karl Blaim is stepping down from his position. Succeeding him is Beatrice Bock, who additionally takes on the role of Managing Director.

 

Pennon Group Plc

Have announced the appointment of Keith Haslett as Chief Executive. Haslett joins from Affinity Water, where he was also Chief Executive Officer.

This appointment follows the news of current Chief Executive, Susan Davy, retiring after five years in the role.

 

Galldris Group

Have appointed James Elford as Managing Director to succeed Tom Kerins. Elford joins from Laing O’Rourke, where he was Project Leader in the buildings sector.

Go-Ahead Group

Rupert Cox has been appointed as Commercial Director for the Bus Division. Cox joins from Konectbus Limited, where he was Managing Director.

MAG (Airports Group)

Have announced three new appointments:

Marie Joyce has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer. Joyce joins from NTR plc, where she was most recently Chief Operations Officer & Chief Financial Officer.

Steve Fraser joins as Non-Executive Director. Fraser is currently Chief Executive Officer of Cadent, where he has over 20 years of experience with the managing and transformation of infrastructure businesses.

Finally, Emma Gilthorpe has also been appointed as a Non-Executive Director. Gilthorpe joins having previously held the position as Chief Executive Officer at Royal Mail.

Turner & Townsend

Have made several changes to their leadership team:

Gareth Taylor has been appointed as Director and Nuclear Sector Lead. Taylor joins from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, where he was Group Performance Improvement Director.

Asa James has been appointed as Director and Head of Estimating and Data to the UK Energy and Natural Resources Team. James returns to Turner & Townsend after five years from his position as Director and Head of Data Analytics & Digital Transformation at Gleeds Energy.

Michael Mahon has been appointed as Advisory Director, Energy and Natural Resources. Mahon joins from EirGrid Group, where he was Chief Infrastructure Director.

Within their UK Real Estate business, they have appointed Mark Morris as Director and Cost Centre Lead. Morris moves internally from his position as Director.

They have also appointed Michael Teggin as Director and UK Regions Retail Lead. Teggin joins from Arcadis, where he was Senior Director.

Finally, Timothy Shaw has been appointed as Director. Shaw joins from EDGE, where he was also Director.

 

Mobico Group PLC

Helge Ramboel has moved internally to become Group Commercial Director. Ramboel was previously Group Business Development Director.

 

Worldline

Have appointed Graham Goswell as Rail Systems Operation Director. Goswell joins from Amey Consulting, where he was Delivery Director Rail.

 

Crown Plus Limited

Have announced the appointment of Jenny Moten as Executive Director. Moten is also currently serving as Regional Managing Director at Core Highways Group.

 

High Speed Rail Group (HSRG)

Huw Merriman as been appointed as Non-Executive Chair. Merriman has an extensive history within the rail sector, including Minister of State for Rail and HS2, and Chair of the Liverpool Manchester Railway Partnership.

 

Mace Consult

Have appointed two new Business Unit Heads at their Europe Division.

Louise Sunderland has been appointed as European Head of Cities and Places and London Region Director. Sunderland joins from EY, where she was Partner, Local and Devolved Government.

They have also appointed Martyn Court as Head of Mobility for Rail, Highways, Aviation, and Ports. Court joins from Arcadis, where he was Partner, Global Account Leader.

GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway)

Ruth Busby as been appointed as People Director, starting from November. Busby joins from Great Western Railway, where she was People and Transformation Director.

 

Virgin Atlantic

Have announced the appointment of Corneel Koster as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Shai Weiss. Koster moves internally from his position as Chief Customer and Operating Officer (EVP).

 

John Wood Group (Wood)

Iain Torren has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer following the announcement of Ken Gilmartin stepping down from the role. Torren moves internally from his position as Group Chief Financial Officer.

Porterbrook

Have appointed Ian Dawson as Sales Director. Dawson joins from Hitachi Rail, where he was Head of Sales UK and Ireland.

 

UK Rail Leasing (UKRL)

Steve McBride has been appointed as Managing Director, succeeding Gareth Roberts who is moving out of the Rail sector. McBride is currently Non-Executive Director at UKRL.
